BOOKANISTAS REVIEW: CROWN OF MIDNIGHT (Throne of Glass #2) By Sarah J. Maas

Need a gift idea? Or two? This series by Sarah J. Maas is definitely one you should read and then tell all your friends about. I know I've mentioned before how I'm a little over the whole series thing — waiting a year is really no fun — but this series is so worth it.

Here's what Goodreads has to say:

An assassin’s loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.

Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.

Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?

This book is beyond intense. It has romance, magic, fighting scenes that will get your heart pumping, and one serious kick-ass heroine. Sarah J. Maas kept me guessing as the story unfolded. She pulled me in with the relationships between Celaena, Chaol and Dorian in book one and then turned the energy and intensity up in book two. And we all know how difficult it is to love the book #2 in a series. But this one didn't feel like a book two, it felt... well... kinda epic.

It has been a few weeks since I finished it, and yet it's still very much inside my head.

Love.Love.LOVE this series.

It will keep you reading.
